Professor Caramelo Gomes is Professor of Epistemology and research methodology in legal sciences and European and Comparative law at the Law Department of UPT.

He is the coordinator of the FCT doctoral and post-doctoral grants assessment panel in Law and Political science 2013, a member of the Management Committee of Cost action IS 1307 - New Materialism: Networking European Scholarship on 'How Matter Comes to Matter”, Co-coordinator, core group member and national rapporteur in multiple competitive funded research projects. Overall, Professor Caramelo Gomes is and has been involved in international research projects and networks that successfully applied for several million euros of research funding.

Professor Gomes sits in various national and international Scientific and Editorial boards and Committees and is a visiting professor in several international institutions and was recently appointed Co-coordinator for the prospective Joint PhD in European and Comparative Law by the UPT, University of Maribor and University of Rijeka”.
