Call for Abstracts | 3rd International Symposium on Human Rights and Citizenship: Causal Relationships Between Structural Inequalities and Human Rights and Citizenship Violations

The Instituto Jurídico Portucalense (IJP) and Universidade Salvador (UNIFACS) invite scholars and practitioners to participate in the 3rd edition of the International Symposium on Human Rights and Citizenship, which in 2026 will focus on the theme “Structural Inequalities and Systematic Human Rights Violations.”

The symposium proposes a critical and interdisciplinary approach to contemporary dynamics of social exclusion, erosion of citizenship, and democratic fragility. It aims to foster in‑depth debate on the causal relationships between structural inequalities and violations of human rights and citizenship.

The event is conceived as an international scientific meeting, resulting from a well‑established academic cooperation between UNIFACS and IJP/UPT, and will bring together a wide network of universities and institutions from Latin America and Europe.

Aligned with recent international academic and institutional agendas, the symposium integrates contributions from critical social theory, public policies, social justice, and sustainable development, while also addressing the impacts of new technologies, in dialogue with the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The symposium will take place on 18 and 19 June 2026, in a hybrid format (in‑person and online).

Abstract submissions are open until 15 May 2026.
