Intensive Program in Women’s, Gender, and Intersectionality Studies

Universidade Portucalense (UPT) is offering an Intensive Program in Women’s, Gender, and Intersectionality Studies, coordinated by IJP’s researcher Zamira de Assis. This initiative aligns with the global effort within the framework of the UN’s 2030 Agenda, the Council of Europe, and the European Union Council, as well as the EU Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025, which has been driving various initiatives and fostering interest in Gender Studies and Women’s Studies. This multidisciplinary and cross-sectional educational offering provides a valuable opportunity to develop skills and deepen knowledge on Legal Norms and Institutions from the perspective of diverse fields that directly or indirectly pertain to Women and Women’s Rights. It aims to offer legal support for understanding and researching reality through both legal and non-legal lenses. Registrations are open until January 10, 2025.

International Congress – The Integration of European Policies in the Iberian Area: Luso-Hispanic and International Perspectives in a Procedural Context

The INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS – INTEGRATION IN THE IBERIAN SPACE OF EUROPEAN POLICIES: LUSO-HISPANIC AND INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVES IN A PROCEDURAL CONTEXT – will be held on 17 and 18 September 2024, with the aim of promoting reflection in three fundamental areas of research: Collective proceedings, with the aim of addressing how the European Directive in this area has been transposed into Portugal and Spain, comparing it with the system in force internationally; Online dispute resolution, in order to examine developments in digital Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platforms, given the recent approval of the European AI Regulation; and The participation of vulnerable people in judicial and extrajudicial dispute resolution. The mission of this Congress is to bring together researchers and professionals from the Iberian and international scene who, through their scientific studies and practical experiences, can contribute to analysing the impact on the Iberian space of European procedural policies in the three study areas of the IBEROPROCELAW project. the call for abstracts is open until 8th september. Virtual Workshop “Bridging Disparities: Critical Innovations in Legal and Political Sciences & International Relations”

The Portucalense Legal Institute is pleased to announce the virtual workshop “Bridging Disparities: Critical Innovations in Legal and Political Sciences & International Relations”, scheduled for December 3, 2024. This event, aimed at early career researchers, will feature keynote addresses from leading experts in law, political science, and international relations. It seeks to explore and challenge traditional narratives in contemporary political and legal sciences from non-Western and decolonial perspectives. New release of Collective Work on Voluntary Jurisdiction

Instituto Jurídico Portucalense is pleased to announce the publication of the collective work “Processos de Jurisdição Voluntária: Anotações aos artigos 989.º a 1081.º do Código de Processo Civil“, developed within the scope of the “Legal Procedure” Research Group. The work, coordinated by researchers Lurdes Varregoso Mesquita and Diana Leiras, benefited from the valuable collaboration of several other IJP researchers. This publication represents a significant contribution to the study and practice of voluntary jurisdiction, offering a detailed and annotated analysis of Articles 989 to 1081 of the Code of Civil Procedure. 4th Edition – Congress on Transnational Law
